Why should I host a tea party?

Life is busy.  Between work, kids, house and spouse there isn’t much time to think about doing anything, “out of the ordinary.”  Why then, should you use your precious time to host a tea party

Here are 5 reasons you HAVE to host a tea party:

#1  You Can Make A Difference

If you think you are tired, you can be sure there is someone else even worse off than you!  Hosting a simple tea party can refresh a weary soul.  The simple act of hospitality can change lives.  Make a quick salad, bake a couple scones and pour some tea.  This simple act could lift another human out of their suffering. (if only for a few moments.)  In addition, focusing on someone else will lift your spirit as well.

#2 You Need Some FUN

Work is overrated.  In truth, rest, refreshment and laughter can bring you to a place of new found strength.  The world looks better.  The flowers smell fresher.  The house looks cleaner. (well, you can always wish!)  The point is, all work and no play will make you a very boring, dried up woman.  Do something new.  Plan a simple party.  If you are limited on time, ask each of your friends to bring an item and host a “potpourri tea.”   (like a potluck~)

#3 Expand Your Borders

Are you a lurker?  You know, the person that reads Facebook but doesn’t post.  The gal that watches the Food Network but never makes anything?  Shake things up a bit and change that.  Expand your borders.  Plan a tea party for your neighbors, the elderly or the overworked Sunday School teachers.  Find a group of people you hardly know and bless them with something extra special.  Dig up all those recipes you have clipped and the table decor you have on Pinterests and make it happen. Take charge of your life.  It is your time!

#4 Tradition Brings Solace

Need order in a chaotic world?  It’s not as hard as you think.  Ok, you can’t control the fact that the garbage disposal broke after your two year old stuck his toy truck down it… life happens.  What you CAN control is your sanity.  Here’s a simple way to do it.  Plan for 15 minutes a day of peace.  Turn off the phone, the computer, “the world,” and go through the steps of making a pot of tea.  Pour tea into your favorite cup.  Grab some inspirational reading and read 1 or 2 paragraphs.  Sip your tea.  Breathe in. Breathe out.  Think about what you have read.  Rinse and repeat. Suddenly, you have a tradition.  Pretty great eh?

#5 Why Not?

Humans love excuses.  I am too busy.  I don’t cook. I don’t like people. :)   Whatever your reason, you are busy and your friends are busy.  That won’t change.  Only YOU can change.  My suggestion?  Plan a tea party.  A tea party challenges you to make time.  What do you have to lose?  If you are a long time reader of  TeaPartyGirl.com you know that this blog FILLED with information.  Getting outside your comfort zone can be challenging but it can also be rewarding.

Great reasons for tea! I think it’s a great way to unwind and socialize. Far too many people think tea is stuffy and boring

  2. Barbara says:

Thank you, Dawnya. If I had to have a sixth reason it would be the one that mothers throughout time have quoted. “Because”. Because you have all that nice teaware gathering dust. Because it’s your turn to entertain. Because you want to. Just “because”.

  3. I hosted a mystery tea party once and everyone had a fantastic time. Tea is such a great way to catch up with friends in a relaxing setting!

  4. Dear Dawnya,
