If you could only afford to buy one looseleaf tea to have on hand, which would it be?
This year, I stopped purchasing tea to resell for a number of reasons, and my stash of black tea has dwindled down to my last few pots. This of course means I have to begin purchasing tea again at retail prices (!) and become a little more choosy about what I decide to drink. My mother brought Quangzhou Milk Oolong tea on vacation and I REALLY liked it, but would not have chosen it for myself, especially at $120 a pound. (Don’t forget, that still equals less than $1 per cup AND it can be infused more than once.) Like wine, the choices can be overwhelming and one can wonder, is the $40 bottle truly better than the $7 bottle and is it worth it?

Ti kuan yin! It’s my absolute favorite. Kind of pricey, but delicious. And the fact that it’s re-steepable is a huge plus.
Oooooh – such a tough question, b/c I drink by my mood! I love the coconut pouchong we’ve discussed. And I love this black/green/vanilla blend that I have. I also love a good Darjeeling.
Hard one – I am not supposed to have caffeine, so I drink mostly white teas and rooibos. I love Snow Geisha from Teavana, and it’s also good mixed with peach rooibos. When I allow myself black tea, I love Golden Tian Hong which I buy from Sensational Teas online. My absolute favorite though, is my own blend of Anxi Pouchong and Pearl Jasmine, both from Sensational Teas. It’s my go to tea, my feel good tea, my I need to be pampered tea.
My favorite tea continually changes. For the last 3 or 4 years, I have been smitten with Snowfire Cherry Ginger. My daughter finally tired of having that and introduced me to her favorite, Harney’s Paris tea. Currently I would have to say I love the tea you recommended from Lana’s The Little House, Snowflake. It would be my choice if I had to choose only one tea! I love the combination of coconut and almond. Thank you for bringing to your readers’ attention!
I would choose Earl Grey, hands down. I’ve never had another tea in my life that could compare with Earl Grey.

I’ve found that when dealing with reputable vendors there seems to be a relationship between price and quality. I just picked up a sample of Sree Sibbari Estate Assam via Upton Tea Imports. At $32 per 100g it’s very pricey, but it’s worth the extra $.
I adore lychee black tea. I get it from Vital T-leaf in Seattle. I adore the aroma and sweetness of the lychee fruit. It goes well at breakfast or as an after dinner aide to digestion.
I love it.
